
Keeping Bathrooms Warm Without Blinding Your Kids
Most bathroom heaters use short-wave radiation to get you warm the second you flip the switch. We use quartz halogen tech to make that happen—it hits those high temperatures fast. But there’s a catch. That raw, bright glare from a halogen filament can be really harsh on the eyes. If you’ve got a baby or a toddler in the bath, that kind of brightness is just too much. Dealing with the glare We wanted the heat, but not the blinding light. So, we added spectral filters. Basically, we shift the light away from that piercing blue spectrum. By using special coatings or tinted quartz, we block the high-frequency light that causes that “ouch” feeling in your eyes. You still get all the warmth you need for a cold, damp bathroom, but the light stays soft. No more flashing lights while you’re trying to relax. The build quality We don’t use standard glass here. We use high-purity quartz because it doesn’t crack when it heats up and cools down quickly. We also tweaked the filament wattage so the surface doesn’t get dangerously hot for a home ceiling. And since bathrooms are basically steam rooms, we used reinforced connectors. That keeps the humidity from eating away at the metal. The trade-off Here’s the honest part: you can’t filter the light without giving something up. Every layer of coating we add slightly lowers the total light output and clips a tiny bit of the heating efficiency. It’s not as “raw” as an industrial tube you’d find in a warehouse. But for a home, that’s a trade we’re happy to make for the sake of safety. Just a heads-up: if you’re installing these in a room with really high ceilings, you might want to move them a bit lower or bump up the wattage. That way, it still feels cozy by the time the heat reaches the floor.
